Reverend Michael M. Smith was born in Charleston, SC and is a proud product of the Gullah heritage. After living in Atlanta for 16 years, Michael relocated to Virginia Beach. For more than ten years Michael has served as Minister of Worship & Arts at Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church in Norfolk, VA. He is also the director of Ebony Impact Gospel Choir at Old Dominion University. You see his cultural heritage manifested each time he sings or leads worship with his infectious exuberance.

Michael’s mission stands clear: to “Usher mankind into a worship experience that influences their way of life, daily demonstrate the truth of Christ to the world and influence other Christians to do the same, be a model of excellence in servant leadership and worship leading, and create music that will cause Christians to make their worship a lifestyle.” In each of Michael’s four CD projects you hear the desperate heart of a worshipper beckoning you to join him in pursuit of God’s presence.

Since age 15, Michael has been preaching the Gospel. As an ordained minister, he has traveled the US, Europe and Africa spreading God’s word through preaching, teaching, singing and serving. He is a certified trainer with Leadership Training International and an instructor for the Foundations Of Faith Leadership Institute. Michael is an advocate for the homeless and travels abroad on foreign missions serving the indigent in rural villages. He serves as chairman of the Advisory Board for Nyame Bekyere Christian School, a private school in a rural village near Accra, Ghana.

Michael is the proud husband of Minister Sharon Smith and father of a beautiful daughter. He has a wealth of knowledge in the gospel music field. He is a mentor to preachers, worship leaders and ministers of music. His whole life has been dedicated to serving God and the church.
